Chinese BookAcupuncture

Acupuncture is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is an ancient art of inserting very fine sterile needles into the body at determined points to promote good health and well being. During one treatment between 15 and 20 needles can be inserted generally on the abdomen, legs and arms. Some patients may experience a sense of heaviness or floating, with some tingling sensations. These sensations only last for a short while and most people leave feeling amazingly relaxed and surprised that it was all so easy and generally painless.

Acupuncture is a totally holistic therapy and no two people can have the same problem. For example, three people may walk into the clinic with a sore throat but each one will be different because each person is unique, and it is this uniqueness of the individual that makes acupuncture so challenging and exciting. In the last two decades there has been a dramatic rise in the use of acupuncture in treating various types of disease. Acupuncture is recommend 4 times a year to maintain good health. It is generally believed that the body is at its most vulnerable when the seasons change so having an acupuncture treatment at this time will certainly boost the immune system.

Chinese HerbsChinese Herbal Medicine

Herbs are the basis of all medicines both Western and Asian. The use of herbs in the west has generally died out and most of us do not understand their benefits and uses. Chinese society did not loose their cultural use of herbal medicine and it is still as popular today as it has always been.

We use herbs either alongside acupuncture treatment or on their own. Some people may have already experienced boiling up herbs that can give off a strong smell which fortunately does not last for long. Using raw herbs for boiling increases their potency and are often used to give the body a quick start to the healing process. When a patient's health improves then the use of powders of patent formulas can be used for long term treatment. If the case is not too severe then powders are often recommended.

In the West no animal products are used, and in the UK plant based materials such as roots, bark, leaves flowers are used. Cleverly combined together they perform a multitude of tasks and help bring a holistic balance to the whole body.

All herbs are of the highest quality and are prescribed individually to meet each patient's needs.
